FSU trailed 21-7 at halftime, but surged back in the second half to pull out the road victory.
“Now we put ourselves in a lot of very tough situations,” Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said. “But our guys continue to affect each other all the time in a positive way.”
The Seminoles were able to gain 574 yards of offense against a top-ranked Louisville defense. Coming into the game, the Cardinals led the nation in total defense (245.8) and interceptions (15), while ranking third in rushing defense (68.8).
Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston passed for 401 yards and three touchdowns after a slow start, which saw him throw three interceptions.
The Miami Hurricanes are the runners-up after a dominating 47-20 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels. Canes’ running back Duke Johnson rushed for 226 total yards and three touchdowns to lead Miami.
