“Well I am proud of the way the guys played last Saturday on the road,” Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson said. “Anytime you go on the road in the league and win a game it’s a big deal. We certainly got contributions out of all three phases of the team.”
Four different players scored on the ground for Georgia Tech in the rout. The Yellow Jackets tallied 479 rushing yards and 549 total yards.
It was a team effort for Tech as two defensive players scored, linebacker Quayshawn Nealy on a 43-yard fumble recovery and back DJ White on a 38-yard interception return.
The game featured one of the most memorable plays of the year. In the second quarter, Nealy returned an interception for 71 yards which bounced off the leg of defensive back Chris Milton, but NC State fullback Jaylen Samuels stripped the ball for a fumble recovery all in one wild play.
The Duke Blue Devils and the Louisville Cardinals are this week’s runners-up. The Blue Devils defeated the Syracuse Orange 27-10 while the Cards beat Boston College 38-19.
