The No. 9 Cardinals receive the recognition after two conference wins, 80-68 at the Boston College Eagles (9-12) and 78-68 in overtime versus the No. 12 North Carolina Tar Heels (17-6).
Louisville came back against North Carolina from a 11 point halftime deficit by hitting the boards hard and outscored the Tar Heels 18-to-8 in overtime to pull out the victory. Junior forward Montrezl Harrell was a monster in the paint, finishing the game with 22 points and 15 rebounds.
“I thought Montrezl was possessed the second half,” said North Carolina coach Roy Williams. “It seemed like he got every rebound. He ran floor. He posted our guys up.”
Senior guard Chris Jones garnered 28 points for Louisville in the win at Boston College. Guard Terry Rozier had solid games in both outings for the Cardinals; the sophomore averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in the contests against BC and UNC.
After splitting conference games, the No. 4 Duke Blue Devils (18-3) are the runner-up for Team of the Week. The Blue Devils lost 77-73 at the No. 10 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (20-3) and won 69-63 against the No. 3 Virginia Cavaliers (20-1).
